The former Aston Villa and West Brom player rented the sprawling Cheshire pad belonging to Alan O'Neill and his wife Katie whilst he was playing for Liverpool in October 2018. But he then filed a separate claim for £100,000 for “special damages in respect of the defendants’ discrimination against them and/or harassment of them on the grounds of their race” contrary to the Equality Act, according to court papers.
