Marriott guests' information exposed

Personal information of 5.2 million Marriott guests have been illegally accessed online in the hotel group's second major data breach in less than two years. Marriott spotted an 'unexpected amount' of guest information had been accessed at the end of February using login credentials of two employees at a franchised property. 'Upon discovery, the company confirmed that the login credentials were disabled, immediately began an investigation, implemented heightened monitoring, and arranged resources to inform and assist guests.' The 'data security incident' has affected hotels including Trump Turnberry in Ayrshire as well as London's Park Lane Sheraton Grand, Westbury Mayfair and Le Meridien Piccadilly.
