Comment: The public is not as keen as business to ease the lockdown

It’s plausible large offices can be in the next wave if staff numbers are kept down with a mixture of some working from home. In many cases, buildings can be kitted out for social distancing but customer numbers would have to be reduced so much as to make the place financially unviable. Analysis from Stonehaven — one of the strategy firms with the ear of Team Boris — has some startling insights. Public opinion will surely change rapidly with the medical situation, but businesses keen to reopen must be wary of pushing too far ahead of what customers want. :: Just as a footnote, the Stonehaven data shows that Brexiteer Conservatives were far more likely than Labour or LibDem Remainers to think the lockdown had gone far enough.
