EXCLUSIVE: Mat Fraser and Tia-Clair Toomey on the CrossFit Games 2020

Euro 2020 will become Euro 2021, the Olympics is being deferred until next year – the first postponement of the Olympic Games for any other reason than the First or Second World Wars — and Wimbledon 2020 is no more. At the moment it seems that there will be a form of CrossFit Games, but in Aromas and on a smaller scale without fans. Of course it’s unfortunate that we can’t have sponsors, vendor and fans because that’s what creates the atmosphere and keeps us going. The unease was only because we didn’t know anything but as soon as they announced that the games were going to be in Aromas, it was like OK, training as usual. For sponsors and vendors it’s their big opportunity and I have asoft spot for them. In fact, this isolation process means I had to cancel a handful of events I would have had to travel to, which always effects your training routine and you have to catch up on sleep and dial in your nutrition even more. I feel like I’m fitter and stronger and in a much more solid routine that a typical year. MF: The lodge we’re staying at in Kentucky is out in the middle of nowhere.
