Harry and Meghan tell UK tabloids they will no longer deal with them

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have told the editors of British tabloid newspapers that they will never again deal with their outlets, in an unprecedented direct attack on a large part of the media that leaves little chance of repairing the relationship. On Jan. 8, 2020, the couple shared the news on their official Instagram handle, announcing that they wish to be “financially independent” and split their time “between theUnited Kingdom and North America.” March 31 marked the end of the couple’s roles as working royals. On Jan. 8, the couple posted a photo of themselves on Instagram with the statement, “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he wasborn, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.
