Amazing aerial footage shows just how much the Caernarfon-Bontnewydd bypass is taking shape

Aerial photographs and video footage show how the construction site for the new Bontnewydd Caernarfon bypass has evolved since work began last year. The current route is prone to high congestion at peak times with traffic often coming to a standstill in numerous bottleneck sections of the A487 running towards Caernarfon. Aerial photographs taken by Glaslyn Roberts show how the project has taken shape over the past year or so as trees and fields have made way for the massive construction site now occupying the space. Moving forward to February 2020, the site is barely recognisable compared to the other pictures as a massive heap now stands in the place of the old field and more of the surrounding area has been dug up. Built by Ruthin-based contractors Jones Bros in a joint venture with international construction company Balfour Beatty, the bypass is set to be completed by 2022.
