Willy Wonka prequel 'considering casting female' as iconic chocolatier

Bosses at Warner Bros. are allegedly considering taking on a female actress to play the role of the iconic chocolatier, after two previous adaptations starred Johnny Depp and Gene Wilder. (Showbizz Daily) Paddington director Paul King has reportedly signed on to direct the film, which is being produced by Harry Potter's David Heyman, with a script by Simon Rich. Roald Dahl was reportedly left 'infuriated' by the adaptation due to drastic changes to his book, first published in 1964.  The book focuses on the poverty-stricken Charlie Bucket, who finds a golden ticket in a Wonka chocolate bar, and wins the chance to visit his factory for a tour.  Johnny Depp, 56, created a rather more eccentric characterisation for a 2005 version, under the direction of quirky gothic filmmaker Tim Burton, that was far more faithful to the source material.
