Bugatti marks Veyron’s 15th anniversary by telling the hypercar’s story

The sketch that sparked the Veyron was drawn by none other than Ferdinand Karl Piëch, a gifted engineer and long-time CEO and Chairman of the Volkswagen Group while riding on Japan's bullet train between Tokyo and Nagoya. It was 1997 at the time and this idea for an enginewould bemuch more powerful, complicated, and be generally better than anything in existence. “The ideas of the outstanding engineer Ferdinand Piëch in 1997 were a testament to a brilliantmind.Aswell as his incredible concept of a powerful engine, he was also the driving force behind the resurrection of the Bugatti brand at its original site, the French cityofMolsheim,”saysStephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti. Bugatti didn't stop there, and just another year later saw the second concept car, the EB 218, featuring a luxurious interior tomatch its power, using the finest leather and wood.
