Champions League teams 'to skip' 14-day quarantine

The Government is expected to make leading football teams exempt from the two-week coronavirus travel quarantine in a move that would allow European ties to take place in England. The 14-day isolation period would make it impossible to complete these ties, and would almost certainly prevent Chelsea from playing away in their second leg match against Bayern Munich. In its Covid-19 Recovery Strategy Document, the Government said there would be “small exemptions” to the travel rules, although there is no mention of the impact on sporting events due to be held in this country.
